Pivot Your Thinking
We had a great week! Blueprinters continue to show higher level thinking as they explore growth mindsets and end their first week by "Pivoting their thinking". We began the day with a great video about seeing things differently made by Apple. This began conversationsabout perspective, and helped us as we made connections to the thinking of Nobel Peace Prize winner, Malala Yousafzai, and her perspective on education. Today we also offered three different seminars:
"Let's Schedule It"--An introduction to Google Calendar and how we can use it to manage our day
"Paper Twist: You can learn ANYTHING"--A lesson about growth mindset and overcoming challenges
"Making Friends with Stress"--Discussions about what defines success and
pivoting anxiety into successful opportunity.
Ask your blueprinter to tell you more about the seminar he/she participated in today.
One of the best parts of our day was when we gave students some time to venture out of their "social system" (or close friendship group) and play some games with kids they don't know very well. During this activity we saw students connect with new friends, have fun, and change their minds about what it may be like to stretch themselves and work with new people.
We continue to get accustomed to working within three different spaces and remembering our schedules. "Small daily improvements are the key to staggering long-term results".
We hope there is a positive and excited buzz in the air when your child arrives at home after school each day. Have a great weekend!
